With wildlife populations down 69% since 1970 and one million species at risk, the biodiversity crisis has never been more urgent – and the RSN’s Fragile Threads project makes the case that artists, makers, and cultural organisations have a vital role to play in turning awareness into action.
The Royal School of Needlework is championing biodiversity through its Fragile Threads programme – a National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported initiative using the art of hand embroidery to spotlight endangered species and inspire action to protect the natural world.
Fragile Threads is more than a project; it is an opportunity to reflect on our relationship with the natural world. Through creativity, conversation, and shared experiences, we aim to highlight both the beauty and fragility of the environments that sustain us.
